Plan Your Wedding Around the Gown

If you are just beginning your wedding planning, you may find yourself overwhelmed by the countless tips, articles, how-to’s, suggestions in magazines, books, and on the internet. All of the tips and articles in the world can be tremendous time savers and provide countless ideas, but only you know YOU. You’ll see it the first time you look in the mirror and realize the girlfriend looking into the mirror has met and become the bride-to-be. Only YOU know the bride you want to become and the statement you want your wedding to make about you and your husband-to-be.

Many articles, including a few blogs I’ve written for our website, will suggest that you pick your wedding colors first and plan your big day around your selections. Today, I want to challenge you to look in the mirror, see yourself, and then close your eyes to envision your wedding. Tell me what you see. Do you see a modern bride wearing trendy designs by well-known designers? Do you see a more traditional bride wearing lace who revisits the beauty of days’ passed? Discover the beauty inside of you and then, shout it to the world!

For many brides, their wedding gown — and they know the perfect one when they see it — speaks to them from a place deep within their heart, a place that may summarize their beliefs, their hobbies, their innermost feelings or their childhood dreams. There is likely only one dress that will stir such emotion: the dress that screams “I’m yours.” Many times, the emotion that the chosen wedding gown stirs can help a bride to plan the rest of the wedding without the added stress. An ivory lace gown, for example, may likely conjure memories of a simpler time, leading you to English cottage flowers and intricate details for your wedding. A diamond-white A-line chic dress will lead your towards more modern ideas and colors. The overall feel of the wedding dress (Vintage, Eclectic, Traditional, etc.) can also steer you in the right direction for what gown — and what wedding plan — will work for you.

Without a doubt, the bridal gown is the most treasured purchase you will make for your wedding and many would agree, it is among the most — if not the most — important. If you are struggling with jump-starting your wedding planning, go shopping for your wedding dress. You might conjure the right emotion inside of you that enables your heart to create a perfect blueprint the rest of your wedding day in no time. Good luck!
