CULLEN’S PROVIDES “MINISTERS ON STAND BY” FOR VALENTINE’S DAY
Spontaneous weddings available to diners swayed by restaurant’s romantic atmosphere
On the heels of its third designation as the Most Romantic Restaurant by the readers of Bay Area Houston Magazine, the award-winning Cullen’s American Grille has announced plans to offer “ministers on standby” on Valentine’s Day. Beginning at 6:00 PM and continuing through 10:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2013, ordained ministers from Weddings Performed will be available to administer wedding vows to patrons who have booked a Valentine’s Day dinner at Cullen’s.
A special ceremony room, complete with flowers, candles, and other decorations created will be set up for this purpose and restaurant patrons who wish to get married, or simply renew their vows, will have the opportunity to use the room and the ministers at no charge.
“Our Valentine’s Day observances are legendary”, offers Cullen’s general manager Ryan Roberts. “Our menu and our atmosphere are a potent combination and this year we will be able to accommodate guests who are swept up in the mood.”
Lynn Turner, founder of Weddings Performed, is accustomed to the unusual and extraordinary when it comes to weddings, and was pleased to offer assistance with this overture.
“We perform weddings anytime and anywhere “observes Turner, whose father was a judge and is an ordained minister herself. “We’ll meet you at the stroke of midnight or the crack of dawn, in the back yard or on the beach. It’s the best thing I do with my life and it brings me special joy.”
Turner points out that that couples will be still responsible for securing a wedding license and reminds interested parties of the 72 hour waiting period that is required by the state (except for active military or with a waiver provided by a judge). Couples who plan to get married at Cullen’s may obtain their marriage licenses in advance of the ceremony or afterwards, but Turner reminds all that this important step is necessary for the marriage to be valid, legal, and in force. Instructions and a list of county clerk offices will be provided at Cullen’s that evening by Weddings Performed.
Cullen’s Executive Chef Paul Lewis has created a special menu for Valentines’ Day, which includes options such as seared American Red Snapper, a Pound of Pork Chargrilled Pork Chop, a ten ounce Beef Filet, a fourteen ounce New York Strip, a pan-roasted Chicken Breast, a Miso-marinated Alaskan Black Cod, and a twenty ounce bone-in Rib-Eye. With an assortment of delectable appetizers, side dishes, and desserts, the Valentine’s Day menu is available for $55 per person (plus tax and gratuity) for reservations before 6:30 PM and $75 per person (plus tax and gratuity) after 6:30 PM.
Reservations for Valentine’s Day dinner at Cullen’s are required and patrons wishing to take advantage of the complimentary wedding services are encouraged to communicate their intent, if known, when placing their reservation. Reservations may be made online at CullensHouston.com or via telephone as (281) 991-2000.
