Wedding Planning Tip: Be Kind to Yourself

It is easy with all the “to-do’s” of wedding planning to forget about your own needs. When was the last time you said, “Oh yeah, the other day everyone was driving me nuts about the wedding, so I got my nails done and went for a two hour walk by myself?” That sounds like a great idea, doesn’t it?

To beat the stress, it IS necessary and not selfish at all to remember you may be a bride, but you’re a woman, first, and therefore, a little self-care pampering is A-OK.

Here are a five simple ideas to get you started caring for YOU, and hopefully they will spark some of your own.

Get out into nature: Staring off into the ocean or laying up looking at the clouds is a great way to clear your mind and a peaceful solo activity.

Break a sweat doing something you love:

Don’t torture yourself by going for a run, if that’s not your thing. Hit a Zumba class to shimmy through your workout or go for a swim. The exercise will help you work out frustration and leave you feeling happy and healthy.

Watch a movie: A complete escape from reality for a few hours can be a blessed relief. Choose your favorite genre and enjoy a time out from life.

Pamper yourself: Manicures, massages, haircuts and the like all offer ‘me time’ that’ll leave you refreshed.

 

Focus: Read a book in a quiet space, work on a craft project that requires concentration, pick up the Sunday crossword, or find something that requires time, patience, and has nothing to do with your wedding. Your brain deserves the break just as much as you do.

Enjoy some downtime. You deserve it. In the long run, you’ll be glad the decision about your different cake options took a back seat for a few moments. 🙂
