Minister Steve Green
Though he prepared early in life for his Ministry, Steve Green was past forty before he took his vows. "I'm going to be a priest or a Marine when I grow up", he told his first grade school mates. Clearly he wanted to appear both wise and powerful! However, by the time he took his philosophy degree, both the Vietnam War and his parent's marriage had ended in ways he could not understand. With too many questions about the church and state to enter the ministry, he got a job and tried to make some sort of sense out of our world.
For two years he studied Zen with a Buddhist community and learned the benefits of quiet meditation and physical relaxation. He also volunteered with some Franciscan Friars who were serving people near the end of their struggle with AIDS. He realized then that Christian Ministry is not centered on Commandments or heavenly rewards. He also learned that wisdom and power have very little to do with Christian ministry.
Steve saw that the heart of Christian Ministry was bringing joy and comfort to those around us in this life. After this insight, he felt comfortable taking his vows.
If you are seeking a Minister for your wedding, Steve's life experiences have given him the ability and sensitivity to bring out the spirituality in that joyous occasion!
